How much does lawn mowing cost in Auckland?
Price is set by lawn size, how long the grass is, and how often we come — not by which suburb you are in.
Lawn mowing in Auckland typically costs between $45 and $130 per visit for a standard residential section. A small courtyard starts around $45, a standard suburban section usually sits between $55 and $85, and larger sections run $85 to $130. Regular rounds cost less per visit than one-off jobs.
| Lawn size | Roughly | Regular round | One-off tidy up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small — courtyard or townhouse | Under 100m² | from $45 | from $55 |
| Medium — standard section | 100–400m² | $55–$85 | $70–$100 |
| Large — big section | 400–800m² | $85–$130 | $100–$160 |
| Very large or lifestyle block | 800m²+ | quoted | quoted |
Why one-off costs more: grass that has not been cut for a month takes two to three times as long and often needs a brushcutter before the mower. Once a property is on a regular round it stays quick, which is why the per-visit price drops. Prices above are indicative — you get a fixed price before any work starts, and it does not change on the day.
What is included in a standard mow?
Every visit includes the same core work, whatever suburb you are in.
A standard Auckland Lawns visit includes mowing, edging and full clean up with clippings taken away. Hedge trimming, garden tidy ups, section clearing and green waste removal are available as add-ons and are quoted separately.
Lawn mowing North Shore Auckland
We cover the entire North Shore, from Gulf Harbour and Long Bay in the north, through Albany, Browns Bay and Takapuna, down to Devonport, Birkenhead and Northcote.
North Shore lawn mowing covers 20 suburbs from Gulf Harbour to Devonport. Sections vary widely here — compact Takapuna units through to large Albany and Long Bay lifestyle blocks — so pricing is set per property rather than by suburb.
Coastal Shore lawns take salt wind and often have kikuyu, which grows fast through summer. Fortnightly is the usual round from October to April.

Lawn mowing Central Auckland
From the CBD out through Ponsonby, Grey Lynn, Mount Eden, Epsom and Remuera — we cover the inner suburbs and the whole city fringe.
Central Auckland lawn mowing covers 20 inner and city-fringe suburbs. Lawns here are generally smaller, often split-level or terraced, with narrow side access — which means a push mower rather than a ride-on, and careful edging around retaining walls and planting.
Because sections are compact, central jobs are usually at the lower end of the price range. Access is the main thing to tell us about when you book.
Central Auckland suburbs we mow
Lawn mowing East Auckland
From Mission Bay and St Heliers along the waterfront through to Howick, Botany, Flat Bush, Pakuranga and out to Beachlands.
East Auckland lawn mowing covers 20 suburbs from the Eastern Bays to Beachlands. This zone has the widest spread of section sizes we deal with — older bays properties with established lawns, and newer Flat Bush and Dannemora builds with small, flat, easy-access sections.
Newer east Auckland subdivisions often have compact lawns that suit a fortnightly or even monthly round outside peak growth.
East Auckland suburbs we mow
Lawn mowing West Auckland
Titirangi's bush-edge sections, Henderson's suburban streets and Hobsonville's newer builds — West Auckland keeps us busy right through the year.
West Auckland lawn mowing covers 16 suburbs from Avondale to Waitākere. West Auckland has heavier clay soils and higher rainfall than the rest of the region, so lawns grow faster and hold water longer — which means shorter gaps between mows and more care needed on soft ground.
If your lawn waterlogs in winter, tell us. We will adjust the cut height and the schedule rather than rutting the lawn.
West Auckland suburbs we mow
Lawn mowing South Auckland
From Onehunga and Māngere through Manukau, Papatoetoe and Manurewa, down to Papakura, Takanini and Drury.
South Auckland lawn mowing covers 16 suburbs from Onehunga to Drury. This zone has the highest concentration of rental properties and commercial sites we service, so a lot of our south Auckland work is scheduled rounds booked by landlords and property managers rather than one-off jobs.
Sections tend to be larger and flatter here than in central Auckland, which usually means a faster job and a mid-range price.

How often should Auckland lawns be mowed?
Auckland's mild, wet climate means grass grows for most of the year. Here is the schedule that keeps a lawn healthy without over-cutting it.
Most Auckland lawns need mowing every 7 to 14 days from September to April, and every 4 to 6 weeks over winter. Spring is the peak growth period. Cutting more than a third of the blade height in one pass stresses the grass, which is why a badly overgrown lawn often needs two visits a week apart rather than one hard cut.
| Season | Months | How often | What is happening |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spring | Sep – Nov | Every 7–10 days | Peak growth. The busiest stretch of the year. |
| Summer | Dec – Feb | Every 10–14 days | Growth slows in dry spells. Cut higher to hold moisture. |
| Autumn | Mar – May | Every 10–14 days | Second growth flush after the autumn rain arrives. |
| Winter | Jun – Aug | Every 4–6 weeks | Minimal growth. Wet ground, so we mow when it is firm enough. |
Kikuyu and couch grow faster than fescue and ryegrass, so coastal and northern properties often need the shorter interval. West Auckland's higher rainfall has the same effect.
Auckland lawn mowing areas — common questions
Everything people ask before booking, answered.
What areas of Auckland do you cover?
We cover all five Auckland zones and more than 90 suburbs: North Shore, Central Auckland, East Auckland, West Auckland and South Auckland. That includes Albany, Takapuna, Devonport, Ponsonby, Mount Eden, Remuera, Epsom, Howick, Botany Downs, Flat Bush, Henderson, New Lynn, Titirangi, Manukau, Papatoetoe, Manurewa and Papakura.
How much does lawn mowing cost in Auckland?
Between $45 and $130 per visit for most residential sections. A small courtyard starts around $45, a standard suburban section is usually $55 to $85, and a large section is $85 to $130. Lifestyle blocks are quoted individually. You get a fixed price before we start and it does not change on the day.
Price is set by lawn size, how long the grass is and how often we visit — not by suburb.
Do you charge extra to travel to my suburb?
No. There is no travel charge for any suburb listed on this page. If you are outside the listed areas we will tell you upfront whether we can come and whether it affects the price — before you commit to anything.
My suburb is not on the list. Can you still help?
Quite possibly. The list covers our regular routes, not the edge of what we will do. We service the greater Auckland region, so if you are within it, call 021 0689 392 or send an enquiry and we will confirm straight away.
How soon can you come?
Most jobs start within two to three working days of the quote being accepted. Spring is our busiest period, so lead times stretch a little from September through November. If you need it done urgently, say so when you enquire — we can sometimes fit a job in the same week.
Do you do one-off mows, or only regular rounds?
Both. One-off tidy ups are common for pre-sale presentation, end of tenancy, or when a section has got away over a holiday. Regular rounds are weekly, fortnightly or monthly, and cost less per visit than a one-off because the lawn stays on top of.
There is no contract on a regular round. You can pause or stop it whenever you want.
What is included in a standard mow?
Mowing the front, back and berm, edging paths, driveways and fence lines, blowing clippings off hard surfaces, and taking the green waste away. Gates are shut and latched before we leave.
Hedge trimming, garden tidy ups, section clearing and bulk green waste removal are separate services and are quoted on top.
Do you take the grass clippings away?
Yes, on every standard mow. You do not need to put a bin out and nothing gets left in a pile on the lawn. If a section has been left a long time and produces an unusually large volume, we will flag any extra disposal cost when we quote, not afterwards.
Do I need to be home when you mow?
No, as long as we can get access. Most of our regular customers are at work when we visit. If there is a locked gate, a code, or a dog on the property, tell us when you book and we will work around it.
My lawn is really overgrown. Is that a problem?
No, but it changes the job. Grass that has not been cut in over a month usually needs a brushcutter first, then a mow, and it produces a lot more waste — so it takes two to three times as long as a maintained lawn. That is reflected in the one-off price.
Very overgrown sections sometimes need two visits a week apart, because cutting a long lawn right down in one go scalps it and can kill the grass.
Do you mow rental properties for landlords and property managers?
Yes, and a good share of our work is exactly that. We handle scheduled rounds across property portfolios, deal directly with tenants for access where needed, and invoice the manager or owner. South and West Auckland in particular have a high concentration of the rentals we look after.
Do you do commercial lawn mowing?
Yes. Body corporate common areas, business park grounds, childcare centres, churches and small industrial sites. Commercial work is quoted per site and usually runs on a fixed schedule. We are fully insured for public liability on commercial jobs.
How often should my Auckland lawn be mowed?
Every 7 to 10 days in spring, every 10 to 14 days in summer and autumn, and every 4 to 6 weeks through winter. Coastal and northern lawns with kikuyu, and West Auckland lawns with higher rainfall, generally need the shorter interval.
What happens if it rains on my scheduled day?
We move you to the next available slot, usually within a day or two. Mowing waterlogged ground ruts the lawn and leaves a mess, so we would rather come back than do a bad job. You are never charged for a visit that did not happen.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry public liability insurance on every job, residential and commercial. If anything is damaged on your property while we are working, it is covered.
Not sure if we cover your street?
Tell us your suburb and roughly how big the lawn is. We will confirm coverage and come back with a fixed price — usually the same day.
